The project involved the upgrading of three existing causeway river crossings – two structures along the Elysee River in the district of Babonneau and the other on the Laborie River in Ti Bois, Laborie to clear span bridges. The existing causeways allowed access for pedestrian and vehicle traffic during normal weather condition but not during storm condition where the water overflowed the decks of the causeways.
Dannion was commissioned by the Government (after a process of competitive bidding) to analyse various bridge options hydraulically, structurally and financially to determine the most appropriate form of structure to be used in each case.
Dannion’s services comprise structural bridge engineering design, cost estimating and production of tender documents for the proposed three bridges. The design consultancy was funded by the Government of St Lucia, and the works was funded by the World Bank.
