Lumière and San Souci Bridges Assessment

The Lumière Bridge Reconstruction and Assessment of the San Souci Bridge comprise:

  1. The demolition and reconstruction of a 24m single span bridge at Lumière, Dennery inclusive of the rubble wall abutments and river training works using rock filled gabion baskets and rubble masonry walls.
  2. The condition assessment of the 55m multi-span, two-lane, structural steel/reinforced concrete composite Sans Souci Bridge in the city of Castries.

After a process of competitive bidding, Dannion, in collaboration with Halcrow, was commissioned to undertake the engineering design and tender documents for the project.

For the reconstruction of the Lumière Bridge, the engineering team were required to appraise and assess the various design options in light of the geotechnical and topographical conditions, and hydrological analyses in order to produce an options report with recommendations. Subsequently the team were to proceed with the detailed design of the preferred option; development of drawings, bill of quantities and cost estimates in the production of a design report; and finally produce full tender documents for procurement of a contractor to undertake the works.

For the inspection of the Sans Souci Bridge, the team was required to undertake a full visual and structural assessment of the bridge structure including measurements, surveys and non-destructive testing.
