Curt studied for a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, before gaining a master’s of engineering degree at Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture. He formally joined the company in January 2007 moving to Saint Kitts in 2008 to oversee the West Basseterre Bypass Road Project. He returned to Saint Lucia in 2011 and has since been involved in projects of varying scales and complexities. Curt enjoys astronomy and ancient African history.
Curt Charles is the head of structures design with responsibility for the structural design for all Dannion projects. He sits on the Design Board which is responsible for the design within the office. As a trained Civil Engineer, Curt lends his problem-solving expertise to a wide range of Civil Engineering projects including infrastructure, land development and highway designs. He is proficient in the use of finite element software, non-linear analytical software/tools for reinforced concrete structures and other commercially available software including SAP2000, ETABS, STAADPro, SAFE.Biography
Curt is an Executive Director who is spearheading company development with new Clients and Partners.
He studied Structural Engineering at Howard University, specializing in earthquake protective systems for reinforced concrete buildings. He presented the findings of his research on the use of re-centering devices for controlling residual displacements in reinforced concrete buildings (subjected to earthquake loading) at the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) Quake Summit in 2013.
Curt officially joined the practice in January 2007, working on a number of important projects including the Castries Anse-La Raye drainage project, Le Paradis Praslin Bay Development Project, the West Basseterre Bypass Road Project, Feeder Roads Project and Vieux Fort Administration Complex.
